About
Dr. Srini Pillay is a Harvard-trained psychiatrist, brain-imaging researcher, and global authority on brain-based leadership reinvention in the age of AI, complexity, and accelerating change. His work sits at the intersection of neuroscience, strategy, well-being, and human potential—helping leaders build resilience, navigate ambiguity, and reinvent themselves while enhancing well-being.
In his keynote experiences, Dr. Pillay guides leaders through a powerful arc: strengthening the brain for sustained resilience, safeguarding it for integrative thinking in complex systems, stabilizing identity amid constant disruption, and priming possibility-thinking so commitments shape reality—rather than reality constraining commitments. Grounded in research on intentional change and neural self-reorganization, his approach integrates business strategy with existential confidence. Dr. Pillay is the Chief Medical Officer and Co-Founder of Reulay, an AI-powered video, XR, and metaverse platform that personalizes interventions to reduce stress, anxiety, and stress-related disease. Built on a machine-learning architecture, Reulay translates cutting-edge neuroscience into scalable solutions for workplace well being and performance in volatile environments.
Graduating as the top overall medical student in South Africa and later the most award-winning psychiatry resident at Harvard Medical School, he served as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the Outpatient Anxiety Disorders Program at McLean Hospital. He also directed the Panic Disorders Research Program in McLean’s Brain Imaging Center, studying how neural circuits reorganize under threat and uncertainty. Beyond medicine, Dr. Pillay advises biotechnology investment firms on early-stage drug development across oncology, cardiovascular, neurological, and immunological domains—bringing a rare ability to translate scientific complexity into strategic foresight.
As CEO of NeuroBusiness Group®, recognized among the Top 20 leadership development firms globally by Training Industry, he pioneered Transformational Neurocoaching®—a brain-based methodology to help leaders move from reactive survival to creative foresight. His clients include Fortune 500 companies and global institutions such as Coca-Cola, Lockheed Martin, Blue Shield of California, EY, Prudential, the United Nations, the World Bank, many pharmaceutical and
health companies, the U.S. Government and IFAD. He has taught at Harvard Business School, Duke Corporate Education, and Mobius Executive Leadership, and serves on the McKinsey Learning Innovation Consortium. He is on a by-invitation-only national US think tank in psychiatry (Group for Advancement of Psychiatry) that focuses on “Disasters, Trauma and Global Health” and is also a member of the Transformational Leadership Council. He is an invited instructor at LinkedIn on 5 video compilations: Depression in the Workplace, Anxiety in the Workplace, Addiction in the Workplace, Leveraging Neuroscience in the Workplace and Managing the Post Pandemic, Anxiety-Triggered Brain. He has a course with ExecOnline with Duke CE on “Leveraging Neuroscience for Team Performance.”
A Fellow at the Institute for the Meaning of Science—led by Oxford physicist Philip Ball at The Marginalia Review of Books—Dr. Pillay is often described as a Renaissance thinker. In addition to his scientific and executive work, he has written a musical and developed patent-protected AI algorithms based on geometry, symbolic well-being, and neural self-reorganization—bridging science, art, and emerging technology to design futures rather than merely adapt to them. He is the author of three books translated into eight languages: Life Unlocked, Your Brain and Business, and Tinker Dabble Doodle Try. Dr. Pillay’s central thesis is simple yet urgent: in an era defined by AI and rapid disruption, leadership is no longer about adapting to change—it is about inventing the self who can lead through it.
