Full Professor of Psychology at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg in Germany, René Proyer is one of the world's leading researchers on adult playfulness as a personality trait. His research examines how playfulness influences stress management, interpersonal relationships, life satisfaction, and overall psychological wellbeing. He has also contributed to understanding gelotophobia — the fear of being laughed at — and its psychological implications. Past president of the European Association of Psychological Assessment, he teaches psychological assessment, differential psychology, and positive psychology. His RCT demonstrating that adult playfulness can be stimulated through targeted intervention is particularly influential.
